Our Music Ministry

THE CHANCEL CHOIR is a cornerstone of our music ministry, singing for almost every Sunday and special service from September through June. We sing a huge variety of music: this coming year features music by over 50 composers, from the 16th century counterpoint of Elizabethan composer Christopher Tye to the contemporary setting of Psalm 23 by Bobby McFerrin. The Chancel Choir frequently collaborates with the Handbell and Children's Choirs, as well as with the Chester Children's Chorus and choirs from other West Chester churches.
The Chancel Choir welcomes all singers (high school age and above) who love to sing with others and expand their musical horizons, as we discover new and deeper ways to praise God together. Members must attend one rehearsal and one church service a week. We rehearse from 7:40-9:30 every Thursday night, and again at 9:30 on Sunday mornings, from September-June, in preparation for the choral worship service at 10:30. Rehearsals are concentrated and are very rewarding; we learn a great deal and have a lot of fun in the process. The ability to carry a tune and hear a pitch is required, though there is no formal audition.
